A shortest Annapurna base camp trek could be planned within 6 days from Pokhara and back. The trip starts with a 3 hours off road vehicle ride to the base of Jhinu danda. The trail then follows the classic route, upstream Modi River and the same way back. Extensions of the dirt road deeper into the valley have made it possible to do the ABC trek in only 5 nights and 6 days from Pokhara and back. Since the itinerary escapes the hot and humid foothills, trekkers don't miss the highlights of the trek.
Short Annapurna Base Camp trek itinerary is very safe as it only escapes the trekking in the valley basin but follows the standards of trekking in high altitude. There are several night halts at above 2,000 m and 3,000 m before finally sleeping at the 4,200 m at base camp. This is moderately difficult trek which requires sound fitness or previous trekking experience even for longer version of the trek.
amazing view..good leader, good organizer..recommended executor of the Annapurna Basecamp tour....I will be back on a trip to Nepal by using i tour Nepal again
I went for a week-long trek on the Annapurna Conservation area with iTourNepal in April 2022. Great experience, somptuous landscapes. I am very satisfied with iTourNepal. Ravi was great at the early stages, including his advices to prepare the bag. They turned out very useful and accurate. And my guide, Dil, was outstanding, strong, reliable and attentive. Special thanks for helping me with my daily courses of Nepali language. I definitely recommend this trip to whoever has 2 weeks and two good legs!
Fitness :
The trek is for experienced trekkers or beginner with sound fitness. Regular workout or jogging at least one month before the trek is recommended.
Altitude Sickness :
Most people develop basic symptoms of altitude sickness above Deurali (3,200 m). A medicine Diamox ( Acetazolamide) taken as prophylactic minimize the risk. Familiarize yourself with the symptoms of altitude sickness, such as headache, nausea, and dizziness. If you experience severe symptoms, descend immediately. In case of uneasiness, ABC could be done as a detour from MBC.
Changing Weather :
Weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. Carry rain gear and warm clothing even if you're trekking in the dry season
Stay hydrated and eat well :
Bringing your own water bottle is must as there are no bottled water available. You can pay and refill the boiled and filtered water from teahouses. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to avoid altitude sickness.
Respect local customs:
Be respectful of the local culture and customs. Remove your shoes before entering homes or temples, and always ask for permission before taking photos of people.
Stay connected:
Purchase a local SIM card with a data plan in Kathmandu or Pokhara to stay connected in case of emergencies. It works all the way to the Annapurna base camp.
Dispose of trash responsibly:
Carry out all your trash, including non-biodegradable items. Leave no trace and help preserve the natural beauty of the area.
